I would like to thank all the guys (Michal, Luckas, Jan, Jan, Roman) for organising such a fantastic, highly skilled, well organised and well run camp. The trainings where well thought out and well prepared, we had a schedule so we knew exactly what discipline we would be training for and so we could prepare for the tough trainings (the only way the Czech know how) that was in store. Where else would you get to train with so many experienced international competitors’, with many European and World Championship medals, and European and World Champions! The setting of the camp was fantastic in the lovely town of trebon, where the people where friendly and the weather was lovely. I particularly liked the great comrodary and friendliness between all participants and organisers.

First year of international training camp of Korean martial art Taekwon-do ITF took place in south-bohemian town of Třeboň under the title Czech Summer Challenge between 27th July and 3rd August 2008. First training started on Saturday evening and continued next days in three-phase trainings. Whole event was organized by today’s and former masters of Europe, World and successful representatives of Czech Republic in patterns, sparring, special techniques and power breaking Jan Mraček, Michal Košátko, Lukáš Vaněk and Jan Klaška. Members of Taekwon-do ITF could come, test their abilities and improve their blow hits and kicks anytime during the event. “This is the reason why some days we had more people on the trainings and other less. However, our training capacities were more then sufficient.” as one of the organizers Jan Kaška mentioned.

Report from Czech Summer Challenge 2008

From July 27th to August 3rd, 2008 Michal Košátko, Lukáš Vaněk, Jan Mraček and Jan Klaška organized 1st Czech Summer Challenge training camp in small town Třeboň in southern part of Bohemia. During the event nobody was afraid of hair colouring. This is the tradition only for Czech team and they didn't persuade anybody. Nevertheless Martin Mahoney from Ireland wanted to try and coloured with Jan Mraček to blonde. :o)

Boys prepared lots of trainings for all the participants and between the trainers you could also meet and train with Rostislav Kaňka (ex-trainer of Czech team), Petr Kotík, Marek Svitek and Ivo Zubatý (World Champions and successful competitors in kickboxing) and other excellent people who get the Czech team on the top.

All participants enjoyed Czech Summer Challenge 2008 event and were eager to train hard 3times a day. The day started at 8 hours by breakfast. Unfortunately Joseph Beadle broke his right hand and had to fly home to Ireland when he was kicked against the hand. We all hope he will be OK soon!

Kubina team charity football match

This year as well as in the last years the world famous NHL hockey player Pavel Kubina prepared a set of 3 exhibition charity football matches with famous hockey players, football players, trainers and several famed faces of Czech sport. The first and second matches took part in the town of Brušperk and Dolní Žukov during the July. The third one was prepared for Pavel's home-village Janovice near Frýdek-Místek in July 26th. Among the Kubina team players we could see except Pavel also Pavel's father, NHL player Rostislav Olesz from Florida Pathers, Tomáš Fleischmann from Washington Capitals, ex-NHL hockey player Vladimír Vůjtek, football goal-keeper Pavel Srníček, football trainer of Hlučín team Petr Samed, NHL fitness trainer Igor Horyl, ex-Czech national team hockey player František Černík, football trainer of Frýdek-Místek 3rd league team Radoslav Látal, owner of Hlučín football team Lumír Kot and Czech Taekwon-do ITF national team member Michal Košátko. The sponsors for the charity event were Aleš Buksa LR Cosmetic ČR, Club Bonver, brewery Radegast, D-Sport, sport company Kappa, Beskydy grocery company Chodura and Deník press. The charity donation was handed over to Children rehabilitative social welfare institution of Ostrava Fifejdy hospital. Photos has been taken by Petr Kotala, Deník press.

Trainings with NHL players

During July and August 2008 the world-known NHL hockey players Pavel Kubina from Toronto Maple Leafs, Rostislav Olesz from Florida Panthers hockey team and their personal trainer Igor Horyl have come to Czech Republic to visit families and continue with their conditional and hockey trainings as a preparation for next year. Michal Košátko was asked for managing 2 trainings per week with boys during summer months. All the trainings were conceived for speed increasing, reaction enhancement and overall improving physical condition. Parts of trainings were also dedicated to boxing techniques, kicking, basics of sparring and improving kinetic ability. All sportsmen trained hard and also enjoyed trainings. For Michal it was nice experience to train successful NHL players and he hopes that these trainings will help them to have better performance on ice and shoot more goals. European Championship 2008 information

At the end of May the 14th Junior and 23rd Senior European Championship of Taekwon-do ITF took place in Croatian city Poreč. Czech National Team came to show its quality and assured all people that we are still on the top in Europe as well as in the world. Czech Republic has won overall the 2nd place and our competitors brought lots of gold, silver and bronze medals from all the disciplines. The best district sportsmen 2007

On March 27th, 2008 Michal Košátko was awarded the best district sportsman of 2007. The ceremonial started at 4 pm in Mirabel restaurant in Frýdek-Místek. It was the sixth awarding ceremonial since 2002 Michal Košátko has participated. Read the related newspaper article.

Friends from Greenland in Frýdek-Místek

From 18th to 21st of March two Greenlandic competitors visited Michal Košátko to take few trainings with him. Steffen and Heidi Rasmussen are the members of Greenlandic National Team and came to Czech Republic to participate on Czech Open 2008 in juniors disciplines which takes place on 29th of March in Třeboň. On Wednesday Michal, Steen and Heidi took part on training of red and black belts. The topic were patterns interlaced by self-defense and kicks. The training was led by Miroslav Sýkora, 4th Dan and Peter Lazorík, 1st Dan. On Thursday evening next training was on the programme. It was devoted to sparring and techniques aimed at fighting. The training was managed by Michal Košátko, 2nd Dan. On Friday they all left to Brandýs nad Labem to be in for trainings of Czech National Team. Visitation of Steen and Heidi was a contribution for juniors of Frýdek-Místek Taekwon-do School as well as for Steen and Heidi. I hope that it wasn't the last visit of them and we'll see them in Frýdek-Místek in the future again.

The best regional sportsmen 2007

On March 7th, 2008 Michal Košátko was awarded among 10 best regional sportsman of 2007. The cermenony took place in the evening at 6 pm in the house of culture in Ostrava and lasted for next 3 hours. You could see some famous faces of Czech showbusiness like the musicians Dalibor Janda, Pavel Dobeš, Heidi Janků as well as Miss Fitness Junior and ballet show. On this event the regional hetman Evžen Tošenovský took part.
